Invigilators

The role of an invigilator is to ensure that the exam centre operates effectively, efficiently and in a manner that allows CII members to sit their papers in as stress-free an environment as possible.

There are some basic rules to be implemented:

For sessions with up to 50 candidates you will need 2 invigilators ensure that the exam centre operates effectively, efficiently allowing CII members to sit their papers in as stress-free an environment as possible.
For each additional 30 candidates (or part) an additional invigilator should be present.
Where both male and female candidates are expected, it is requested that male and female invigilators are present.
Where there is only one candidate, one invigilator will suffice provided that another responsible person is within call. If the only candidate is male then a male invigilator will need to be present; if the only candidate is female then a female invigilator will need to be present.

New invigilators should be fully briefed by experienced invigilators and MUST be sent a copy of the ‘Regulations for examination co-ordinators and invigilators' booklet prior the exams so that they may learn the key procedures that they will need to implement during a session. The booklet is revised for each exam session.

Recruiting invigilators

If you are looking for new invigilators there are a number of ways you can do this:

Appealing to your members with an eflyer, or you could write a news article for your website asking for members to volunteer.
Why not ask council members to volunteer for at least one session - this way your council members are leading by example.
Contact local companies and CII corporate Chartered companies.
Liaise with your PFS regional committee (FS exams now account for the majority of candidates sitting exams).
Contact local universities and colleges - many educational establishments will have a list of independent invigilators who they use for their own exams.
By maintaining a database of trusted invigilators you can keep an up-to-date list as the next exam session will come round a lot quicker than you think!
