As you may be aware, a Grants Working Party (GWP) has been formulated from nominated Area Representatives. Its remit is to review the basis on which local institute ordinary and special grants are awarded, and to establish protocols on the holding of reserves.
At the heart of this, is a desire to future proof the local institute network ensuring that it remains relevant to members’ requirements; that members’ fees are invested in delivering services they seek; and that best practice is shared across institutes ensuring that a high-quality experience is delivered to all members. The insurance market has changed immeasurably in recent years, and it is our responsibility, as council members, to ensure that local institutes continue to keep pace with this change.
In order to complete this review and devise criteria to support the work of local institutes, the GWP needs a clear view of how the local institute network is performing.
The GWP has therefore developed a draft set of key measurement criteria (below) against which local institute performance can be assessed. These are grouped as follows:
- Governance
- Continuing Professional Development
- Representation and servicing of all membership segments
- Communications
- Exam centre operation (where applicable)
- Annual dinner, social events and charitable support.
These have been dispatched this week to Presidents and Secretaries for discussion with council members. The GWP are seeking any views, comments or suggestions on enhancements to these.
Feedback should be submitted to linetwork@cii.co.uk by 31 May 2013. There should be one submission per institute and this should be submitted by the President or Secretary.
The finalised criteria will be presented at the Network Conference on 23 July 2013 prior to release to all local institutes for completion and return by 31 October 2013.
