In addition to the ordinary grant awarded each year, local institutes may also apply for a secondary grant, a special grant. This is to cover planned exceptional expenditure that cannot be met by the ordinary grant.
These are awarded on a case-by-case basis, subject to review and CII Board approval and provided as a one-off payment.
As stated, special grants are only awarded for exceptional expenditure, e.g. the development of your CPD programme.
Please note that special grants will not be awarded to cover institute staff and office costs.
Before submitting a special grant application, local institutes should firstly assess the level of accumulated reserves to ensure these do not exceed 12 months operating costs. Where they do, the CII would look for these funds to be utilised in the first instance and any successful special grant application would be adjusted accordingly.
To apply for a special grant, local institutes need to submit a written application, including both special grant applications forms: A and B. The latter will include a full breakdown of your local institute’s financial accounts.
To find out more about special grants please see the supporting guidance notes which can be found below along with application forms A and B.
All applications need to be submitted to the CII by Friday 29 September 2018 via specialgrants@cii.co.uk for review.
Final decisions will be made by the CII Board in November.
Confirmation of the amount to be paid will be communicated to all institutes in December 2017.
