Chartered Insurance Institute announces strategic partnership with EDII to elevate New Generation Programme

The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) has announced a major new partnership with EDII - leading specialists in innovation education - to strengthen and expand the impact of the CII’s flagship New Generation Programme.

This collaboration represents a significant investment in the future of the insurance and financial planning professions. By bringing in external innovation expertise, the CII is enhancing its commitment to developing future leaders, equipping participants with cutting edge skills, and ensuring the longevity and visibility of the programme’s outcomes.

For more than a decade, the New Generation Programme has nurtured emerging talent across the sector, supporting participants and their mentors as they tackle real-world challenges and deliver projects with lasting value. As the sector faces rapid digital, regulatory, and societal change, the need for future ready leadership has never been greater.

Through this partnership, CII and EDII will:
• Strengthen the strategic impact and quality of project work developed by each cohort.
• Enhance participants’ innovation capability, confidence, and leadership skills.
• Provide structured expert support that ensures projects deliver measurable, professional value long after the programme concludes.
• Amplify the visibility of New Generation initiatives across the profession, regulators, employers, and wider stakeholders.

EDII will deliver sector-specific innovation learning and facilitation, supporting participants through high impact sessions designed to unlock insights, shape ambitious project thinking, and build the skills required to lead change across the profession.

Adam Harper, Director of Strategy, Advocacy and Professional Standards, said:
“This partnership represents an important milestone for the New Generation Programme. By bringing EDII’s innovation expertise into the experience, we are enhancing our investment in rising talent and giving participants (and their mentors) the support they need to deliver projects with lasting value. The programme has always been about empowering professionals to push boundaries and shape meaningful change, and this collaboration ensures their work continues to have a long term, visible impact across the sector.”

Commenting on the partnership, Caroline Bedford, Chief Executive Officer at EDII, said:
“We’re thrilled to collaborate with the CII on such an influential programme. The New Generation cohorts bring enormous passion and potential, and with the right tools and frameworks, their ideas can translate into powerful, long term outcomes for the sector.”

A confident step into the future
This partnership represents one of the most forward-looking developments the CII has made in professional development in recent years - a clear commitment to empowering individuals, strengthening the professions, and ensuring that the ideas generated within New Generation continue to deliver impact, credibility, and sector wide relevance for years to come.
