Your council

Your local institute’s key role is to deliver a local membership proposition that is relevant and fit for purpose. This proposition will cover an inclusive CPD programme, a networking black tie annual dinner, revision support and social activities. The development of this proposition will be achieved through the effective development and management of your local institute council. This will be achieved by ensuring all key council roles are filled, all council members have a role to play, council meetings are quorate and planning around assessments and development plans are adhered to. Finance

Your local institute is funded by the CII on an annual basis via an Ordinary grant, and monies must be spent wisely to ensure your institute is delivering a local membership proposition that is relevant and fit for purpose. The obligation to deliver an annual Ordinary grant is set out in the CII’s Charter and applies only for local institutes in the UK (plus Isle of Man and Channel Islands) and approved by the CII (insofar as those activities will further the objects of the CII). Your annual accounts and budget will be managed by your Treasurer to ensure the financial integrity of the local institute is maintained, and that all budgets are kept up to date. Legal

As local institutes are separate legal entities to the CII, they have to deal separately with the legal and financial matters that affect their day to day business.
