‘BeSafe’ – Behaviour and Safeguarding
The CII Group is dedicated to promoting high standards of behaviour among insurance and personal finance professionals. All CII members and colleagues are expected to comply with the CII Code of Ethics at all times.
This expectation extends to guests who attend CII, Local Institute or PFS Local Committee events. This guide provides practical support about how to respond to incidents which threaten the physical safety, psychological safety, or wellbeing of individuals. Such incidents may include (but are not limited to) intimidating behaviour, excessive intoxication, harassment (including sexual harassment), violence, discrimination or bullying.
Most CII, Local Institute and Local Committee events are held with great success and pass without incident. However, should an incident come to pass, individuals may be uncertain about how they should respond. In general, there is no expectation that CII colleagues or stakeholders should proactively ‘deal with’ or ‘manage’ a situation in the moment.
However, this guidance is provided to help those responsible for events to ensure any incident is managed in the most appropriate way possible and to give confidence that action will be taken by the CII Group if necessary.
